Increased Cleaning to Fight Coronavirus in Fort Dodge Businesses

1/25/2021 (Permalink)

If you’ve visited any place of business recently, you may have seen an increase in cleaning procedures happening. Grocery stores are now supplying disinfectant wipes to clean off shopping carts before each use. Employees are wiping down door handles every 30-minutes in high traffic areas. Some retail stores have placed tape on the floor every 6-feet at cash registers to persuade customers to stand apart from each other.

Businesses everywhere are taking unprecedented steps to keep their employees and customers healthy. So what can you do personally to help reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus and how can professional cleaners like SERVPRO of Fort Dodge help also.

How You and Your Employees Can Fight Coronavirus

It’s important that you communicate with your employees on how to reduce the spread of coronavirus. Since there is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus, it is important to follow CDC guidelines to protect yourself and your coworkers. If you and your employees can work from home, it is highly encouraged to do so. If you and your employees have to work at your business, there are certain things you and your employees can do to protect yourselves:

  • Avoid Close Contact - Practice social distancing by avoiding large crowds and keeping at least six feet away from other people. Don’t shake hands when greeting someone. If there are people that you know are sick or are showing signs of being sick, try to limit your exposure to them.
  • Keep Your Hands Clean - Practice washing your hands or using hand sanitizer every time you touch any surfaces like door handles, stair railings, elevator buttons, counters, shipping packages, mail, and gas pump handles. Avoid touching your face, mouth and eyes.
  • Stay Home if You're Sick - If you have a runny nose, cough, fever, and/or shortness of breath, stay home and call your doctor. Your doctor may want you to stay home for up to two weeks to make sure that you aren’t contagious. If you do test positive for COVID-19, it’s important that you notify your workplace so they can take steps to clean and disinfect the areas that you work in. If you are sick and must go out in public, please wear a facemask to prevent the spread of the virus you may have.
  • Frequently Clean Heavy Traffic Surfaces - Make it a daily habit of spraying a disinfectant and wiping down frequently touched surfaces like doors, handles, tables, light switches, and counters.
